This is a fair condition Marlin Model 38 slide action .22rf that will chamber .22 short, long, or long rifle cartridges. The rifle is a take-down design, and appears original, not refinished. The 24" octagon barrel exhibits wear, and a few spots of external corrosion. The mechanism is in excellent shape and seems to function as it should. The bore has good rifling but has a heavy build-up of lead and bullet wax. The stock has a couple of cracks at the wrist that are non-critical, and the original butt-plate has a chip missing from the toe. The original buckhorn rear sight is intact, but the front bead is missing from the front sight. The blue finish is about 80%, with wear to the edges and high spots. The last patent date marking on the barrel is June 6, xxxx, and the serial number is 75xx with no letter prefix. This would be an easy restoration, or use it as-is.
